We are all on a spiritual journey that leads us toward God. As we travel, our paths bring us to others who impact our journey.
The same Jesus who told his disciples, “Come, follow me,” calls us today and walks with us on the way.

Whether you are beginning a journey or continuing on a well-worn path, you are invited to join with others as you seek to live in love with God and neighbor. Three paths of study are available. Details on each are provided below.

The Adult Ministries 2011/2012 Brochure gives you a complete listing of all opportunities for adult study and fellowship, plus the class offerings for this fall.

In-Depth Spiritual Formation & Bible Study
Commit to a 28 – 30 week study in the company of other Christians. Your study will include daily Bible reading and weekly or bi-monthly meetings. The Disciple Bible Series (including Jesus in the Gospels) provides resources to help you dig deeper into the Bible and better understand God’s word in the context in which it was written and in its message for you today. Companions in Christ guides small groups in spiritual formation as they draw closer to Christ through devotional reading, new forms of prayer and reflection, and sharing together.

This in-depth series of Bible studies will help you know our faith stories and gain new insights into what they say to you today. Disciple Bible Study takes the Bible seriously without taking it literally. It does not promise to answer all your questions, but to provide a safe space in which you can learn and grow with others. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a means through which we know God and hear God’s word to us.

DISCIPLE is based on the model of Jesus and the twelve disciples. You will meet as part of a small group with a trained biblical leader for approximately 32 weeks. Participants are expected to do daily Bible reading and a short weekly reading from the participant book in preparation for the class. Each session includes a DVD segment by biblical scholars that provides helpful background and insights to the scripture.

DISCIPLE: Genesis - Exodus • Luke - Acts
Thursdays:  9:30 - 11:15 am, Hearth Room
Leader: Duane Townley
Begins: Sept. 15, 2011

Ready to dig into the Bible? You can do this one! In the course of 30 weeks you will read and study just four books of the Bible which are foundational to our understanding of God as a God of covenant. This God loves us, calls us, equipsus, and sends us out to serve.

You must pre-register for this class. Do so by calling Marcia or Rev. Buchholz, 835-6797. Please pick up your book in the church office and read Lesson 1 before class begins.
