It is true! First United Methodist Church LOGOS is offering a Senior High Summer Camp this summer, August 8-12 at Crystal Springs United Methodist Camp in Dowagiac, Michigan. Be assured that our leadership team is doing everything within our talents and imagination to make this first annual LOGOS Camp an exceptional experience.
Each day at Camp we will experience all the elements of LOGOS! The day will begin with youth-led devotional time, followed by Bible Study and ReCreation before lunch. Our afternoons will be filled with Worship Skills time, many fun camp activities preceded by a time of quiet reflection. The dinner hour will be charged by the day’s theme and all the holy hilarity of Family Time.
However, this camp will be much more than a series of activities. It has been inspired by a speech given by Bono, of the rock group U2, given at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC in 2006. The speech was subsequently published as a book illustrated with rare photographs Bono took on his first trip to Ethiopia in 1986. Bono’s words are provocative, powerful, and they challenge the reader to be in God’s service and take action on behalf of the poorest of the poor. So, by working with a local group on a special service project we will do just that.
